The residents of Calderas invite you to visit their charming little coffee producer village located in the Andean piedmont of Venezuela, between the regions of Trujillo and Barinas.

They are grouped together in the tourism cooperative Boca E’Monte whose aim is to promote sustainable low impact tourism that meets the visitors’ expectations and they will be happy to show you their land and the diversity of their culture and natural resources.

You will discover Calderas’ landscapes, forests, shadow coffee plantations, rivers and crystal clear lagoons through the many excursions routes proposed. Local guides, the baquianos, will accompany you and give you numerous anecdotes and details about a region they perfectly know.

By choosing the community based tourism you will participate both in the development of Calderas and in the preservation of its forests, and the beneficiaries of your stay will be the local people that welcomed, hosted and guided you.

You will stay in the Mucuposadas Valle Encantado and Los Alcaravanes, traditional rural houses reconditioned to offer the visitor food and lodging services in a simple and warm manner, located in the hamlets of San Ramón and Agua Blanca, starting points of hiking, trekking, climbing, horse riding, bird watching and nature interpretation routes.

You will get to know your hosts and share with them; they will play you typical Venezuelan music and prepare you typical dishes and the aromatic coffee of Calderas. You will discover the impressive wildlife of Calderas, the baquianos will guide you to the most beautiful and spectacular spots and you will lean more about the coffee process by meeting local coffee producers in their farms.

In Calderas, tourists will encounter the tranquility offered by a pure and uncontaminated nature, nice, warm and people, fresh mountains and a large range of multicolor flowers and birds, and crystal clear waters and will discover new horizons.”
